An employee of Facebook quit the company yesterday and criticized the firm publicly. The employee accused Facebook of ‘profiting off hate’.

The engineer, Ashok Chandwaney, included some of Facebook’s actions in the past related to the hate content on its platform. Those were mostly responsible for his decision to quit.

In the recent months, the company has been criticized all over the world for not taking any action in regards to the hate content.

Mr Chandwaney said Facebook should take a stronger approach to remove the content which encourages violence. He also mentioned the non-removal of Donald Trump’s post related with hate.

In past few years, Facebook is in the news only for wrong reasons. Be it a data scandal with Cambridge Analytica or the role it played in Russian Election Interference, the myanmar genocide, and the recent violence in Bangalore, India.

Mr. Chandwaney wrote a public facebook post describing his reasons to leave the company. In his own words: “I’m quitting because I can no longer stomach contributing to an organization that is profiting off hate in the US and globally.”

If you are a Facebook user and have come across any hate content on the platform in the past after you report that post, how has Facebook acted? Are you satisfied with its content policy? Let us know in the comments.
