Wondering what are some interesting Artificial Intelligence Facts? First of all, let us understand what is Artificial Intelligence.

Right from the evolution of Computers, the technology has been on the top in every aspect and extended its the roots in almost every field.  But there has been always the efforts of the humans as the machines needed the direction from humans at crucial stages.

So this branch of Computer Science called Artificial Intelligence was developed and these machines are capable to think in the manner as humans do. It has become a very important thing in the industry of Technology. So let see it in detail.

AI – Artificial Intelligence :

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the way of making computers or computer-controlled machines and software to think intelligently, in the same way as humans think. The Father of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is John McCarthy and he says it is “The science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs”.

AI machines have the capability to perform the task as per the environment. It has the very crucial ability of the ‘Learning’ and Problem Solving’ when put in the condition. Humans possess this ability naturally and it resembles the machines with Artificial Intelligence.

This is achieved by the same idea as humans think or the method they use to solve the problems in particular conditions. It also involves the ability of machines of ‘Reasoning’, ‘Planning’ and ‘Speech Recognition’. This makes the AI a perfect technology that could make the machines work in all the Adverse and Tricky conditions. The development and research associated with Artificial Intelligence involve highly technical and specialized skills.

History of AI :

The history of Artificial Intelligence finds its roots long back ago. But the main idea of a thinking machine was first proposed by Alan Turing, who proposed the Turing test. The term “Artificial Intelligence” was first introduced by John McCarthy and his colleagues in 1956. They and their students developed software that was appreciated very much. They developed the programs and games like checkers, the programs that solved the word problems in algebra, proved logical theorems and speaking English. The research on AI was going very nicely that times and was mostly funded by the Department of Defense of the United States.

Then in the 1970s the AI research was slowed down due to lack of funding and again in the 1980’s it picked up and its market reached the value over a billion dollars. Soon AI accomplished many landmarks with the beginning of the 21st century and it was then used in several very important fields.

Types of AI:

1.Weak AI (narrow AI)It is a non-sentient AI, it is focused on narrow tasks Ex. IBM Watson, Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant, etc.
2.Strong AI (hypothetical) Sentient machine
3.Artificial General IntelligenceAs smart as a normal human and having ability apply intelligence to any problem
4.SuperintelligenceAI for surpassing brightest human beings

Branches of AI :

  1. Machine learning
  2. Deep learning
  3. Natural Language Processing
  4. General Intelligence

Interesting Artificial Intelligence Facts

  • The purpose of life is ‘to live forever’ – Google AI bot (wait, what?)
  • Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking and more personalities urged scientists to not create uncontrollable AI products (robots, machines, etc).
  • Dmitry Itskov, a billionaire wants to make human immortal using AI by combining human intelligence with artificial bodies. Source
  • Elon Musk has said multiple times that the AI can be a threat to humanity in the future.
  • Facebook is developing an AI application to detect people’s emotion in the photos.

The importance of Artificial Intelligence is never going to be lowered in many upcoming decades instead the branch is waiting for loads of more research for the development and betterment of the world.
